Q. Do you accept insurance?
A. We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield RI. Please check with your policy to determine which medical conditions are covered. Most commonly, lower back pain and joint paint may be covered. We are working on credentialing for additional insurance providers, please contact us for more information. At this time, insurance companies do not cover herbal medicine.
Q. Which modalities will be used during my treatment?
A. Most people receive Acupuncture, either alone or in combination with cupping, moxa, gua sha, or tui na. The modalities we use will be the ones most effective in treating your health concerns. Chinese Herbal Medicine can be used alone or in a complimentary manner with other modalities, but must be scheduled as a separate appointment.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
A. This depends on your individual health concern. Some situations only require one or two visits and some require a longer term treatment plan. If you are coming in for a headache or to ease cold symptoms, your course of treatment will be shorter. If you are seeing us for a chronic condition or injury, you will be more likely to require once or twice weekly appointments over a sustained period of time - weeks to months. If you are paying with insurance be sure to check with your policy to see how many visits they will cover.
Facial Rejuvenation requires a minimum of 6-8 treatments and as many as 20. The number and frequency of treatments will depend on your age, you specific skin concerns, and other health factors.
Q. What is community-style acupuncture?
A. In community-style acupuncture, multiple patients are treated in the same space at the same time. In our case, up to 4 people at once. Appointments are staggered by 15 minutes. Your treatment will happen in a reclining chair and you will not need to undress, but you should wear loose clothing so that we can access the points on your arms, legs, and abdomen. We may also use points on your ears, hands, feet, and head.
The benefits of community-style include affordability (sliding scale of $20-$40 per treatment), the ability for family members to schedule treatments together, and some people feel an increased healing benefit from being in a state of deep relaxation and healing with others. While COVID is still a concern, our community-style treatments happen with chairs spaced far apart, with curtains between each patient, and with excellent ventilation and air flow.
